What’s the difference between MA and MFA?
: more classes and time taken to complete MFA
M.A: work on final project, M.F.A. Write and produce a project based on your thesis. In short, the former focused more on craft, and the latter focused more on research, critical thinking, and concepts.
Which one should I choose?
Your decision should be based on your career and education objectives.
If your primary goal is to gain entry into the US job market and work for a US company, pursuing the M.A. program could be the most suitable option, especially if you already possess significant work experience.
If you aspire to enter the teaching profession or pursue a career in academia, opting for the MFA program would be advisable.

Other things to keep in mind:

You are allowed to change campuses every quarter as long as you inform your advisor and fill out the necessary paperwork.

What types of work should be included in my portfolio when applying for the Motion Media MFA program at SCAD?
On the SCAD online portfolio submission portal, it states that:
Portfolios should include at least three motion pieces, each 30 seconds to two minutes in length, as well as 5 to 10 examples of graphic/visual work accompanied by a concept statement. Portfolios should exhibit a strong understanding of visual problem- solving and process, including evidence and understanding of design, typographic motion and animation skills. In addition, portfolios should show knowledge and effective use of industry software and tools to support the aesthetic. Applicants should also submit a writing sample that addresses the role of motion media design in popular culture.
Is it possible for me to apply to the motion media program at SCAD if I have completed a BFA in design but lack experience in motion graphics
Yes, you can. Graduate coursework are very similar to BFA work; people who have little or no experience in Motion Graphics can enrol without the expectations of having to accumulate years of relevant working experience or skills.
Do graduate programs consider the amount of work experience I have in the field when evaluating application?
Yes and no. Yes only if you are planning on appealing for more scholarship amount. No, I met graduate students who have came from other fields not related to motion design.
